The event is open to all amateur and professional photographers who are not prohibited by any law or regulation from entering, and who have access to the internet.

No entry fee or other payment is required to enter, nor is the purchase of any item or service necessary.

An image that has won a prize in a national or international competition or that has been used for commercial purposes (i.e. generated payment or been published) may not be eligible for entry.

The organizers reserve the right at their sole discretion to reject any photographs which are deemed to be offensive, obscene, and defamatory or in any other way inappropriate or incompatible with the competition.

Entry Procedure

Entries must be taken between 12:01 AM, September 13, 2009 and 11:59 PM, September 19, 2009 and submitted online by 11:59 PM, September 25, 2009 in accordance with the instructions set out on www.snapshotsacramento.com. By submitting an entry entrants will be deemed to have fully read these terms and conditions and agreed to be bound by them.

A maximum of five entries per person are permitted. The original files must be submitted in high resolution JPEG format.

Theme

The images should be of “Sacramento County” and exude a sense of place and experience, an inspiring moment, pride of family and community captured during the week of September 13 – 19, 2009. Images may include, but are not limited to;

  • Home and Family Life
    All types of activities, even as mundane as taking out garbage. Examples of the kinds of images that we are looking for include but are not limited to: All ages – babies to seniors; eating, drinking, cooking; driving; dating; changing diapers; raising family; playing with pets; listening to music; painting toenails; engaging in hobbies; religion; recreation; and weddings, just to name a few.

  • Work
    People in any and all professions/occupations. Take your camera to work and capture your co-workers at their best.

  • Play
    Sports of all kinds; individual and team, competitive and non-competitive. Images depicting health, fitness, exercise, adventure as well as family and kids playing indoors and outdoors.

  • Faith
    With over 470 churches is the Sacramento County; it is safe to say that worship/faith is a major part of our community. Therefore, we want to include these images in our publications.

  • Sacramento
    Sacramento County encompasses approximately 994 square miles in the middle of the 400-mile long Central Valley, which is California's prime agricultural region. The County is bordered by Contra Costa and San Joaquin Counties on the south, Amador and El Dorado Counties on the east, Placer and Sutter Counties on the north, and Yolo and Solano Counties on the west. Sacramento County extends from the low delta lands between the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers north to about ten miles beyond the State Capitol and east to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. When shooting make sure that flattering pictures of as many notable landmarks as possible are covered. Ideally, you should include location pictures with and without people in them.
